The Niagara Drifter Float Reel

The first of its kind.

The Niagara Drifter is a unique centerpin reel with a 2 to 1 winding ratio, it can retrieve line twice as fast as a normal reel. Basically it is a 4 ½” reel that brings line in like a nine inch reel would, if there were such thing. This reel is the result of design and development work over the past several years for a reel that, when fished in big rivers with long drifts, can get the line back for another drift very quickly. We have had a number of experienced center-pinners fish with the reel and they agree it excels in this. However this reel may not be for everyone as it functions a bit differently than a regular reel.  To retrieve, one turns the handles and the spool brings in line. To drift simply wind the handle backwards about a half turn until the handle hits a stop/park position and the spool free wheels. This reel is fitted with an adjustable drag feature which is turned on and off by a sliding button on the back of the reel.

For those who don’t want a 2:1 winding feature but like the look of the reel we can make a 1:1 version of it in either a clicker or drag version. When filling in the ORDER form please add a note in the comment section that you want the 1:1 version.
